From January 2025, Envalue will include in every valuation report a benchmark of a building’s sustainability performance relative to the Dutch average. With the Sustainability Index, every client receives a baseline assessment based on 85 ESG-related data points. The data points are divided into eight categories, including energy efficiency, biodiversity and health. This index offers owners, investors and financiers a reliable and objective comparison tool and goes beyond the Sustainability Paragraph 2.0. The index is available for all sectors.
Collaboration with market leaders
The Sustainability Index was developed in close collaboration with leading organisations, including ABN AMRO Bank. “The Sustainability Index provides our clients with a detailed sustainability profile of their property and a reliable benchmark for responsible investment,” says Frank van Kester, Head of Valuations at Envalue.
Reinier Mijsberg, Head of Valuations at ABN AMRO, adds: “Envalue’s Sustainability Index helps us to assess property not only financially, but also in terms of the E and S of ESG. This supports us in achieving our objectives for a future-proof property portfolio. ABN AMRO is delighted that Envalue is adding this index to every valuation report.”
Customisation possible for specific sustainability goals
In addition to the Sustainability Index in every valuation report, Envalue offers customisation options whereby the weighting of specific categories can be adjusted to strategic goals. An example of this is an Amsterdam housing association that can have certain climate risks specifically factored into the index. This housing association is location-specific and therefore has different requirements. The index can also be applied at municipal or portfolio level.
Impact on the property market
By adding the Sustainability Index to valuation reports, Envalue contributes to greater awareness of the impact of sustainability in property. Investing in sustainability is not only good for the environment; it also offers economic, social and strategic benefits. Sustainable buildings are more attractive to property users and investors, which can lead to higher returns, increased value and competitive advantages.
